A $6 million redevelopment is taking shape at the Mildura Golf Club. The project will redesign the layout of three holes of the golf course, allow a 100 housing block subdivision and the development of a new resort.

Mildura Golf ClubGeneral manager Marcus Guthrie says the new holes are almost finished and the entire development is planned to be done over three years.

"At the end of stage one we commence subdivision of the first 30 land parcels and that will be just on the right hand side of the entrance," he said.

"Once those are complete we will move onto the other 70 towards the back of the golf course.

"It is quite a transformation but I think it proves how valuable the Mildura Golf Club resort is to the Mildura community and how many of the locals want to protect this facility and are willing to volunteer their time to ensure it stays for many years to come."

The districts first golf course was designed by highly regarded course architect Floan Morpeth and officially completed in 1912 for play. Most recently in 1975 Kevin Hartley completed course remodeling works that has resulted into what we know today, a challenging course with true fairways lined with native trees including old native gums, large even greens, a number of green and fairway bunkers and water holes.

Created on red sand, well contoured with true fairways and many undulations, advanced native growth, spectacular water hazards and even greens it is unrivalled by many Murray River courses. Mildura always presents itself immaculately to the golfer all year round.
